On the first day, the group visited Dawar Footwear Industries, Sikandra, Agra.  Upon arrival, the group was addressed by Mr. Rajeev Mishra, HR Manager, who provided an overview of their industry and the production process involved in the shoe making. Overall, the students could relate to the fundamentals of shoe making like procurement of raw leather and making of shoes. The students also enquired about marketing, distribution, supply chain management, advertising and general management. The students were then taken to the factory where leather shoes were being hand – made. It was a great life time experience for the students as well as for the faculty. After the visit, the group visited the Taj Mahal and everyone was mesmerized with the beauty of the monument.

On the second day, a visit to the rural unorganized Petha Industries of Agra was planned. Petha is a translucent soft candy sweet from Indian subcontinent made from ash gourds (also known as winter melon or white pumpkin or simply petha in Hindi and Urdu). In various rural homes, various kinds of pethas like kesar petha, angoori petha, etc. were being made. The students were shown the whole process of Petha making from cutting the ash gourd into pieces, soaking in lime, boiling and coating in a flavored sugar syrup. In the second half of the day, the team visited Fatehpur Sikri Fort, where the local guides guided everyone about the historical aspects of the fort. This part of the day added a soothing freshness to the minds before a tiresome journey back to Delhi.
